Hate to tell you but those are not the best prices in Houston by far.

If you wanted to just save some money and switch from the monopoly companies of Reliant Energy and TXU that is fine but you can save even more if you just looked at www.powertochoose.org

Read the facts labels and you will see companies listing a lower rate but then slap a monthly customer charge to compensate. Tricky but legal.

My company is the largest CREP (competitive retail electric provider) in TX and that only took 3 years. How is that even possible? We offer rates better than the ones you have listed mainly because we don't have to advertise through conventional billboards and commercials. They just pay associates like myself to spread the word that we are cheaper and we deliver a product that doesn't have weird hidden fees.

I would make sure to do your research and at least switch to a company that at least offers a 100% green energy plan.

My green plan today is 16.9 cents/kw with Stream Energy. So today my 100% renewable GREEN plan is actually cheaper than all 3 companies listed above and that includes the cheaper to produce coal/nuclear generation plans from Gexa and Cirro.

I just find that educating customers that reducing your carbon footprint isn't as expensive as you might think. In this case, going GREEN with my company will actually save you money vs using standard generation.
